Title: The G.A.P. Project

Word Count: 80,000

Hogwarts House: Ginny is absolutely a Hufflepuff. While brave, her loyalty to her friends and family is what drives her.

Pitch: As the genetically enhanced Trinity, seventeen-year-old Ginny must choose: fulfill her purpose to help repopulate Earth after a predicted nuclear holocaust, or rebel against her creators and risk dissection as their blueprint for human evolution.

First 250:

The steel door slid closed with a sharp clank, followed by the sucking of a vacuum seal. Ginny blinked blearily at her distorted reflection in the metal. Just how every girl wanted to spend the wee hours of the morning: locked in panic room at the back of her closet.

She groaned and rubbed her face. There wasn’t supposed to be a drill tonight. At least she didn’t remember her parents discussing it. But when Dad woke her at 12:01, the tight-lipped look on his face said otherwise.

Great…

After the fifth kidnapping, parents all across the tri-county area had taken extreme measures to protect their families. Some put extra lighting and security systems. Some declared earlier curfews. Her folks? They installed a death trap.

She'd complained about the loss of closet space for a month, and detested the late nights where she had to wait, chilled and tired, for Dad to open the door and let her go back to bed. She shivered and tucked her arms around her frame. Scrubbing her eyes to clear her vision, she tried to count down the minutes until the drill was done.

The pads of her bare feet froze against the floor. She longed for the fluffy white robe now lying on the floor beside her bed. On the other side of that friggin’ door.

How many minutes had gone by? Five? Ten? She’d lost count. That was the first sign something was wrong.

She'd never been in here long enough to lose count before.
